Moving Beyond Cancer - elan woman

On February 13, 1988, I heard the words “non–Hodgkin’s lymphoma” and then couldn’t take in the rest of what the doctor was telling me as my whole world started spinning. Over time, I slowly gained a better understanding of what the diagnosis meant and became filled with fear. My life was collapsing around me and, with the speed of a cloudy tornado, I was transitioning from a free–spirited, 24–year–old to a young woman with weighty concerns and serious decisions to make. I felt blanketed in the darkness of the storm clouds; alone, terrified, and confused. I was overcome with decisions and emotion.

The written tools will be an excellent resource for the clinic and for passing on the education to the staff. The verbal and practical input was also great. I liked how you integrated the information with activities, audience feedback and participation. I wasn’t board or disinterested at any point.

The variety of teaching methods was the big deal for me, I’m so glad that you did not run on like the last seminar I attended. Your use of practical examples, progression in plan of treatment, and the way you kept my attention with interactive communication and not just lecturing to the group was the best. You brought a lot of knowledge to the course from your feet and not by just reading to us.

Tyler Jackson

Hey this was a surprising course, I found the information presented in writing and in practice to be tips, tricks and techniques I can immediately apply in clinic. You had a boat load of information in writing that was great and the manual will be a great resource, but I really go for the hands on practicum section we did. I not only learned theory, but we all had the opportunity to try the feel of how the rehab process works from start to finish.

You have great knowledge and enthusiasm for the subjects.  You have pulled together a great resource for therapist to jump in and start taking care of cancer and pulmonary patients. We will now be able to get started next week with this training and with the patient program manual that makes doing this program easy, a new grad could do this program with the way you outlined the patient program manual.

Carol Evans

This is a great opportunity to help patients that are slipping through the cracks and not getting the therapy they need. I was amazed to learn that pulmonary patient are on the rise, I thought people were cutting smoking out. The chest physical therapy was a lot of fun, haven’t don’t that since school. I really enjoyed your careful attention to the class and their mastery of the information.

I thought the content of the course was very well researched, organized, and presented with clarity. I benefited most from the labs and the team participations. The case studies were truly effective and revealed the clinical pathway a patient will travel to restored function. Thank you for the many test and measurement outcome tools that will progress my goal writing efforts.

Christopher Hall

I was happy to see how you presented the course information in many different ways. You lecture, role play, called upon us in the audience, used videos and humor very well and in general engaged us as part of this course. I felt like we were co-workers and that made this workshops so cool for me because I got to be a part of how it turned out.
